Maddox Creek Fish Passage Barrier Removal

This project included the restoration of a historical ravine fill zone and culvert as a fish-passage improvement in Mount Vernon, Washington. The project was funded by the Washington Department of Ecology and managed by Skagit County Public Works. Work included removal of a 233-foot-long metal pipe culvert and thick overburden material, reconstructing 250 feet of new stream channel with rock and large woody debris habitat enhancements, installation of a 300-foot drainage swale, and related replanting/stabilizing of adjacent slopes. Element staff worked closely with Skagit County and the project team to provide accurate tracking and daily documentation of construction activities and quantities to satisfy DoE funding requirements.
